Animal Surgery at Grand Rapids Veterinary Clinic
When it comes to animal surgery, our experienced team is here to answer your questions, discuss your concerns and set your mind at ease. We offer a full range of surgical services, all of which are delivered in our state of the art surgical suite. Most orthopedic and advanced surgical procedures are provided at our Grand Rapids clinic via the board-certified veterinary surgeons from Minnesota Mobile Veterinary Surgery. Drs. Brian and Nate Rose have undergone significant additional training and travel to our clinic as needed. We use the most modern surgical techniques along with the safest, most effective pain relief products to ensure that not only is your companion’s procedure a success, but a positive and stress-free experience for you both.
Our main priority for your pet’s surgery is safety and comfort – before, during and following the procedure. We begin with pre-anesthetic blood work prior to surgery to help us identify any potential risks that your pet may have. This allows us to plan ahead and minimize these risks as much as possible. Anesthetics are then carefully selected based on your pet’s individual health and surgical needs.
The morning of your pet’s surgery, we’ll welcome you both warmly and immediately focus on getting your loved one settled in. We’ll spend some time helping your pet relax and feel comfortable so that he or she doesn’t experience any unnecessary stress or worry. Once settled, one of our Certifiied Veterinary Technicians will begin by placing an intra-venous catheter and together with the doctor will administer the anesthetic agents.
When your pet has been safely anesthetized, the doctor will begin the procedure, working as carefully and efficiently as possible. Support staff are there throughout the procedure to assist with surgery and to closely monitor your pet’s wellbeing at all times. Our surgical suite is outfitted with cutting edge monitoring equipment which allows us to maintain your pet’s vital signs and keep them comfortable throughout the surgery.
When surgery is complete, your pet will be relocated and continuously monitored in our quiet, comfortable recovery area. Someone from our team will contact you to explain how everything went and to arrange a pick up time for your pet. When you arrive, we’ll go over our post-surgical care instructions, including an appropriate plan for managing your loved one’s pain during the recovery process.
